A 1-day STEP Maths Preparation Course for students sitting MAT or similar exams for entry to Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Imperial College. Takes place in July, at the start of the summer holidays.
If you have your sights set on a mathematics degree at a top university, you are likely to have to take an entrance exam such as MAT. In this course, we will guide you through a selection of novel questions and past MAT questions from very old papers, intended to be useful even for those who have seen all readily available past questions. You will have a chance to work through specially-selected questions in cooperation with some of your fellow applicants. A solution to each question will be presented succinctly and with full explanation by an expert tutor in order to demonstrate the quickest or surest technique and why it was chosen.
The skills and topics we will cover include:
- Justifying and qualifying inferences
- Iterating and composing functions
- Using inequalities and estimates
- Managing higher order polynomials
- Sketching unfamiliar graphs
“For anyone that is interesting in taking the MAT, this is the most helpful form of revision for it I have experienced.”
