A bundle comprising the following live course:

Physics Admissions Summer School (on Zoom)

  • Details: Tuesday 2nd – Friday 5th August 2022, 9am to 4pm (first day), then 10am to 4pm (middle 2 days), then 10am to 5pm (last day)
  • Days 1-3 aim to bring you up to scratch with all of the commonly occurring subject matter that could be examined through ENGAA or at interview. Topics covered:
    • Static forces
    • The behaviour of moving bodies studied via dynamics and kinematics
    • The special case of circular motion and its application to orbits
    • The behaviour of electrical circuits governed by resistors, electrical power, and more exotic components like capacitors and diodes
    • The physics of waves and intensity, and especially electromagnetic radiation
    • Electric charge, electric potential energy, and electrostatic forces
    • Radioactive decay
    • Springs and elasticity
    • Astronomy
    • General physically-applicable reasoning, including the square-cube law
  • Day 4 focuses on admissions-test-style short maths questions. Content:
    • Justifying and qualifying inferences
    • Iterating and composing functions
    • Using inequalities and estimates
    • Managing higher order polynomials
    • Sketching unfamiliar graphs
