Pricing: £125 before 5th October. £169 thereafter.

  • Challenge yourself to complete a full mock paper.
  • Receive full marking and grading of your mock exam.

  • Leave with full video solutions to all of the 2016 Papers.
Further Information

As with any other exam, sitting a mock in your MAT paper in realistic, timed, exam conditions will help you to judge how well prepared you are for the real thing.

Nerves and the pressure of an examination situation are two of the biggest factors that let students down. So practising under realistic conditions is always a good idea.

AT STEP Maths, we have schedule our Mock Day for a week before half term, and papers will be returned within a week, so that you can review your performance and detailed feedback over half term.

If you aren’t able to make it to London, we can make provisions for you to scan the paper and send it to us in advance, so that we can mark it with the others and return it back to you before our Long Questions Course.

In addition to the mock, there will be the opportunity for you to have a 1-1 session with a tutor after the mock, should you have any specific questions which have cropped up during your preparation.

NB. Strictly Limited Spaces.

  • Sketch and analyse bizarre new functions, or construct them yourself
  • Handle polynomials of any order
  • Master intricate rule-following questions
  • Learn to adjust every parameter and anticipate the consequences
  • Count and classify new abstract objects, possible and impossible
    Further Information

Following up our popular course on the rapid-fire short maths questions from MAT papers, we present a similar course targeted at the longer questions in the MAT.

We know at this point in your preparation, you will probably have tackled the majority of the past papers, so this course will cover original questions that we have made up. We will cover a few, extra-long questions in detail, really getting to the heart of the Mathematics contained within them.

In MAT in particular, the long questions are unlike anything you will see at A-level and will require practice at logical reasoning, understanding abstract definitions, and writing clear and incisive proofs. These are all skills highly prized by universities and should prove useful beyond these entrance exams, including at interview and in preparing for your career as an undergraduate.

Working with partners, you will learn by practice how to approach abstract questions and present your thinking in a way that others can understand, while our tutors will present model solutions detailing how the examiners hope for their best candidates to think and write.

      Further Information

Following up our popular course on the rapid-fire short maths questions from MAT and PAT papers, we present a similar course targeted at the longer questions in the MAT.

In addition, this MAT Extended Course will examine a variety of Maths problems, focusing on challenging but relevant questions from STEP Papers, exposing students to a variety of different problems and styles of Maths questions, particularly relevant when we consider the 2015 MAT Paper.

      • Come away with access to Maths Interview Questions you most likely won’t have seen before
      • Get used to being in a high pressure interview situation with all eyes on you
      • Receive feedback so you can totally ace your real interview

      Strictly Limited Spaces.

Please note, the Maths Interview Day is non-refundable.

      Further Information

We will begin the day with an interview skills session. This will include a chance to have your personal statement scrutinised and an opportunity to practice answering questions about it. You will gain confidence and practice with Oxbridge Maths Interview Questions and Answers, and you will be shown how to communicate your answers so that you are able to demonstrate your passion and potential in Mathematics or Computer Science.

You will then get a 30 min interview, under pressure. But instead of receiving just one practice interview, you will get the opportunity to sit in on and observe every other student being interviewed to and get 10x the benefit, as each student will receive completely different questions to you.

As Maths is one of the only subjects where your written work is arguably as important (if not more important) than your verbal answers, we have a unique setup whereby the interviewee will be able to write his or her solutions, and the other students will be able to see what is being written, without the interviewee feeling unnecessarily intimidated.

You can analyse how you would have answered particular questions and compare your method to how others answer. You can attempt the questions yourself too, and you will be given access to a whole host of new, interview questions, written by expert tutors from STEP Maths. As you’ll all have shared the same experience, you’ll be able to discuss questions together afterwards too.

      Happy students! Testimonials:

Read what our students have said about our MAT preparation courses and resources

We always started each question or topic by addressing the basic things we needed to know. This really helped my understanding and I learnt a lot of new things that I had not previously known.

      Kauser M

The STEP questions in the MAT Extended course made the MAT seem less frightening and I learnt some new methods that are more advanced (e.g. Trig addition formulas etc.) that may help to make mat questions easier.

      April W

I found going through the functions questions very useful as I had not seen anything similar before. The teaching style works well because there is a lot of interaction between the staff and pupils.
      Emma B

Great teaching, good variety of questions. Very helpful teachers and assistants.
