FAQs

How do I participate in the tutorial?
After booking, you will receive an email containing a link to a video meeting with your tutor. The link will open in a piece of software called ‘Zoom Cloud Meetings’ (see next question for more information on this software). The link will be of the following form: A meeting has been set up for your booking: Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android: https://zoom.us/j/xxxxxxxxx On the date and time you have booked, please click on the link to join a video call with your tutor for the allocated time.
What software/equipment do I need to participate in the tutorial?
You will need software called ‘Zoom Cloud Meetings’ to open the link in your email and participate in a video call. The software can be downloaded here. You will also need a device that has a working camera and microphone. You may also want to use headphones during the call.
What equipment is recommended?
While PCs, laptops, tablets, and mobiles will all work well, you may prefer to use a mobile if it has a front-facing and rear-facing camera, since then you can more easily show your tutor what you are writing. Whatever device you use, it would be useful for you to have a stand to hold your device to allow you to write.
I can no longer attend the session. Can you send me a refund?
Because of the limited number of hours available, a session cannot be refunded once it has been booked. Therefore, please book a session only if you are sure you can attend.
What should I do to prepare for the tutorial?

Please ensure you have several questions ready that you want to ask the tutor. It is better for you to make note of these questions when booking the session to give the tutor time to prepare. Due to the nature of STEP, if you ask for help with another question during the session, it may take more time to answer than if the tutor had been aware of the question beforehand.
